STAT 344 Probability and Statistics for Engineers and Scientists I

(3:3:0) Prerequisite: MATH 213. Introduction to probability and statistics with applications to computer science, engineering, operations research, and information technology. Basic concepts in probability, random variables and expectation, Poisson processes, bivariate distributions, sums of independent random variables, correlation and least squares estimation, central limit theorem, sampling distributions, maximum likelihood and unbiased estimators, confidence interval construction, and hypothesis testing.
