Texts: SAS Applications Programming by DiIorio (required)
SAS Language and Procedures by SAS Institute (suggested)
Regression Using the SAS System by Freund and Littel (suggested)

Some knowledge of basic statistics and an introduction to computers are
prerequisites.

The course will cover various topics in analysis of variance and regression
analysis. Various computer software systems for statistical data
analysis will be introduced, and two software packages will be used fairly
extensively for data manipulation, ANOVA, and regression.

Assignments, solutions to assignments, and other information will be given
in computer files in the main class directory on the GMUVAX computer.
Students must be able to log into accounts under this directory and must
learn enough VMS commands to read and print files so as to access the
assignments and other information.

Assignments will require use of minitab and SAS on the GMUVAX computer. The
minitab assignments can be done on a PC. The GMUVAX computer can be accessed
remotely via a modem 993-3536 (see PROCOMM.TXT or KERMIT-M.TXT in (2632] for
instructions on transferring files via modem). Some special information
about SAS on the VAX is given by DiIorio on pp 608ff.
