CREDITS AND REFERENCES FOR FITZ D PIECES

The authors of this on-line workshop are Dr. Behrouz Aghevli and Dr. Mark Spikell. It extends ideas first presented in a series of onsite workshops by the authors including a presentation at the 1996 Annual Meeting of the National Council Supervisors of Mathematics in San Diego, CA titled, "A Hands-On Approach to Teaching Algebra, Geometry and Trigonometry." It was also revised and delivered in an interactive session titled, "Mathemagic: Dr. Super’s Triangles -- Explore Algebra, Fractions, Symmetry, and Geometry with a new Manipulative," by the authors at the 1996 National Council of Teachers of Mathematics Regional Meeting in Baltimore MD. Additionally, to pilot test and improve the content of the workshop to insure its effectiveness, numerous presentations were given to teachers in schools, educators at local conferences, supervisors of mathematics, and students during the period 1995 - 1997.
